Curating ideas for a better world.
TEDxPorthtowanWomen's mission is to bring great ideas to spark conversation, deepen understanding and help create a just, sustainable and joyful future.
The range of talks at TEDxPorthtowanWomen aim to provide a journey into a plethora of different topics to convey and feed the curiosity in these often disparate issues. We focus on amplifying the voices of women in Cornwall, providing a platform to represent the worlds of art, science, history, activism and equality, public service, technology, plus so much more. We are an inclusive, 100% voluntary and not-for-profit organisation. Our talks are all about bringing people together and creating a positive momentum for our future.
Our story
TEDxPorthtowanWomen was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to create a dedicated platform to elevate and amplify the voices of women in Cornwall. This is our first endeavour, a new beginning driven by a passionate, all-volunteer team on a determined mission to elevate.
We believe Cornwall is a hub of world-class ideas, and we want to give a stage to its finest women thinkers, dreamers, and doers. Our goal is to build an inclusive community that sparks conversation and connection through the power of ideas worth spreading.
As a non-profit organisation, we rely on the support of our partners and community to bring this vision to life and begin our journey of curating an unforgettable event.
Meet our leadership team
Our leadership team is joined by those of our wider team who take on lead roles for the work streams that form part of our events. Our volunteers come from a diverse range of sectors, from NGOs and the public sector, health and everything in between. We work year-round to bring TEDxPorthtowanWomen and its wider initiatives to life.

About TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx programme, but individual TEDx events are self-organised. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
About TED
TED is a nonprofit organisation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
