Last updated: 1st January 2024
1. Introduction
Welcome to TEDxPorthtowanWomen. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website located at tedxporthtowanwomen.co.uk (the "Site") and form a binding contractual agreement between you, the user of the Site, and us, the organisers of TEDxPorthtowanWomen ("we", "us").
By using the Site, you acknowledge and agree that you have had sufficient chance to read and understand the Terms and Conditions and you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree to the Terms and Conditions, please do not use the Site.
2. Licence to Use Site
We grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide, non-transferable licence to use the Site in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in this Agreement.
You may access and use the Site (including any incidental caching of the Site) in the normal manner and may also print one copy of any page within the Site for your own personal, non-commercial use.
You must not add any content to the Site: (a) unless you hold all necessary rights, licences and consents to do so; (b) that would cause you or us to breach any law, regulation, rule, code or other legal obligation; (c) that is or could reasonably be considered to be obscene, inappropriate, defamatory, disparaging, indecent, seditious, offensive, pornographic, threatening, abusive, liable to incite racial hatred, discriminatory, blasphemous, in breach of confidence or in breach of privacy; (d) that would bring us, or the Site, into disrepute; or (e) that infringes the intellectual property or other rights of any person.
3. Intellectual Property Rights
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions constitutes a transfer of any intellectual property rights. You acknowledge and agree that, as between you and us, we own all intellectual property rights in the Site. This includes all content, logos, graphics, and other materials, which are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. TED, TEDx, and the TEDx logo are trademarks of TED Conferences, LLC, used under license.
4. Submissions (e.g., Speaker Applications)
When you submit an application (e.g., as a speaker, volunteer, or sponsor) through our Site, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and irrevocable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, and publish the content of your submission for the purposes of evaluating your application and promoting the TEDxPorthtowanWomen event.
You warrant that you have the right to grant these permissions and that your submission does not infringe on the rights of any third party.
5. Warranties
You represent and warrant to us that: (a) you have the legal capacity to enter these Terms and Conditions; and (b) you have complied with all provisions of these terms.
6. Liability
To the full extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability in respect of loss of data, interruption of business or any consequential or incidental damages. We provide the site "as is" and make no warranties about its accuracy, reliability, or completeness.
7. Termination
These Terms and Conditions terminate automatically if, for any reason, we cease to operate the Site. We may otherwise terminate these Terms and Conditions, immediately, on notice to you, if you have breached these Terms and Conditions in any way.
8. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Any dispute, controversy, proceeding or claim of whatever nature arising out of or in any way relating to this Agreement and the rights created hereby shall be governed, interpreted and construed by, under and pursuant to the laws of the United Kingdom, without reference to conflict of law principles, notwithstanding mandatory rules. The validity of this governing law clause is not contested.
