About this speaker
Hi! I'm Afnan, a final year student at the University of Exeter studying Law with Business. I’ve had the incredible privilege of travelling widely, which has made me endlessly curious about our role in solving global issues. Since then, I’ve founded the UN Women Penryn society on my campus, co-led waste segregation projects in India, and am working on inclusion initiatives a little closer in Cornwall. I’ve also had the fun of growing up across two continents, becoming trilingual along the way, and building a bridge between very different worlds.
I don’t have much to say yet, but I have enough to say about my generation, and how we are responding to global challenges with a mix of impatience, creativity and refusal to accept “that’s just how it is.” Through my studies, community work and a lot of questioning, I’m trying to help reconnect the rules so more people get to be in the room where decisions are made.
